North Berwick

Water of Leith, Edinburgh

Edinburgh Skyline

Pentland Hills, Midlothian Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh

One thing I really miss about the UK, funnily enough, is the cold weather, and Edinburgh was a great city for it.

Being able to rug up with scarves, hats, and woolly gloves on a bright crisp Autumn/Winters day and go for one of the easily reachable walks within the city was second to none. Whether it be a brisk climb up Arthur's Seat, a stroll along the Water of Leith or a longer trek through the Pentland Hills, it was always magical and felt like you were in the middle of nowhere...

...and the best bit was always going for a nice warm (by Aussie standards) beer or and much welcomed hot toddy in your favourite pub, sitting rosie-cheeked by the open fire and revelling in the fresh air you just soaked up.

Sound like I'm missing he UK slightly? Does anyone have any ideas of where I can find such delights near Sydney? and easily accessible by public transport?
